We provide neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations to explore strengths and weaknesses related to cognitive, academic, and social-emotional functioning and develop comprehensive recommendations to best support your needs. Occupational therapy (OT) evaluations and speech and language evaluations are also available. Evaluators often work collaboratively with school systems to help advocate for students’ learning needs.

We also have a team of psychotherapists who provide individual, couples, and family therapy from a range of theoretical approaches, including but not limited to CBT, psychodynamic, play therapy, and social communication. Parent coaching is available both in-office and in clients’ own homes. Some of our staff psychotherapists also have training in attachment-focused therapies (e.g., Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy [DDP]) and joint parent-child approaches (e.g., Parent-Child Interaction Therapy [PCIT]). Our marriage and family therapists work with couples or family systems to improve family functioning and communication. Medication management for psychological needs is available from our psychiatrists and nurse practitioners.

For concerns related to sensory processing, or the ability to take in, organize, and respond to sensory inputs, our occupational therapists (OTs) provide sensory processing evaluations and occupational therapy sessions in one of our sensory gyms. Our OTs also provide handwriting development, feeding therapy, bike lessons, and gardening sessions. For clients who struggle to sustain their attention or actively participate in a multi-sensory environment, we offer intensive listening services. In addition, nutritional counseling is available, which includes individualized guidance on nutritional needs, food selections, management of the practical demands of food preparation (e.g., shopping lists, recipes), and physical activity.

Our academic support staff provides a range of educationally-based services, including tutoring across subject areas, reading support according to the Orton-Gillingham method, executive functions coaching, and Cogmed Training for working memory development. We also provide career and life coaching, as well as personality assessments to help guide life and career decisions using the Lumina Spark model and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Our transition team supports students in various life transitions, such as from high school to college or into the working world.

For concerns related to speech and language, our speech and language pathologist provides a range of services, including language therapy, voice therapy, stuttering therapy, and therapy for apraxia.

Finally, Sasco River Center is committed to supporting the community at large. We offer a free parent lecture series each year led by a variety of our staff members across disciplines.
